Virginia Marcum

Virginia McNerney (Valentine) Boyd Marcum
September 3, 1922 – December 23, 2023
Virginia, age 101 of Lakeside, passed away on Saturday December 23 in Salem. Her sons, Jim and Val
Boyd were with her. She was preceded in death by her daughter Grace and her husbands Ralph Boyd
and Roy Marcum. It was as graceful a departure as could have been hoped.
Virginia was born in Myrtle Creek Oregon, the second child of Grace and Warren (Val) Valentine. She
graduated from Myrtle Creek High School. She met Ralph Boyd of Riddle, Oregon and Concrete
Washington. He was called away to the Navy by WWII. After a harrowing experience, being sunk at
Guadalcanal, they were married in Winchester Bay while on sick leave.
Living in Reedsport, Virginia raised 3 children and worked at many jobs ending up as a Teller at Umpqua
National Bank for 27 years. She was active in Eastern Star, attended the Reedsport Church of God, and
loved to dance at every opportunity. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Dunes Memorial Chapel January 6.
