Ellene Marie Barrone, 73, passed away peacefully in Eugene on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. A Vigil service will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Dunes Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Reedsport Masonic Cemetery, a reception will follow the graveside at the church. A full obituary will follow.
Ellene was born on April 21, 1945 in Vancouver Washington to Richard and Olivia Kimball. She would eventually earn an Associates Degree in Business. After meeting James A. Barrone, they were married withing seven months claiming it was love at first sight, the couple were married on April 18, 1964 in Vancouver Washington. Jim would move the family to Reedsport in 1964 after taking a job with the US Postal Service. Their first child "Skipper" James A. Barrone Jr was born December of 1965. In November 1969 their only daughter Margaret was born, and their youngest son Rick was born in August of 1972.
Ellene's working career consisted of; cooking for Forest Hills Country Club, working with kids in the Special Education Program of Highland Elementary School, accounting and front work at Umpqua Drug, working in the deli at the Reedsport Price-N-Pride Market. Ellene's favorite job was working for Lower Umpqua Hospital for 17 years until her retirement in 2016. She LOVED working there and being around so many people. Ellene could light up everyone's day with her smile, her love and her disposition. She was a mamma to all of us.
Ellene loved cooking and more than anything, she loved baking! Ellene ran her own home catering business, which she name "Touch of Class Catering", and she included her entire family in the business. She was a long time member of St. John's Catholic Church of Reedsport.
Ellene is survived by her her son "Skipper" James A. Barrone Jr., of Reedsport, her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Terry Lowery of Reedsport, her son and daughter-in-law Rick and Sheryl Barrone of Drain. Ellene is further survived by her grandchildren; Micah Lowery, Ashley Barrone, Adrianna Barrone and James Barrone. She is also survived by her brother Bill Kimball, brother in law Doug Tanner, nieces and nephews; Christopher, Stephanie, Jeff, Lisa, Rachelle, Heather, Derek and LOTS of cousins and GREAT friends.
Ellene was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
