John "Jack" H. Ames

John "Jack" H. Ames, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Falls City Oregon on July 11, 1929 to Bryron A. Edna L. Ames. He joined the US Navy  August 21, 1950 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1954. He settled in Brookings Oregon where he met and married Shirley Brickey on Septeber 19, 1955.. They had 3 children; Elaine, Diane, and John. 

Jack was a member of Operating Engineers and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. They moved often and settled in Reedsport Oregon after retirement. 

He is survived by his wife Shirley, Son John, and daughter Diane Forbis, 3 sisters, Nancy Hampton, Janice Sundvall, and Jenny Hogan. 

He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Elaine Simmons and 7 sisters and 4 brothers. 

Jack also has been blessed with 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 

Two memorial services are planned. The first will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenway Mobile Park in the community clubhouse. The address is 450 SE Lacreole Dr. Dallas Oregon, 97338. A reception will follow the service at the same location.

The second memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Reedsport Christian Church. The address is 2795 Frontage Road, Reedsport, Oregon 97467. A reception will follow at the church.
