Katheryn Lynn Hoy was born July 27, 1961, in Presque Isle, Maine to Clifford Y. and Shirley JoAnn (Brown) Hoy. She grew up with a father serving in the U.S. Air Force and they transferred to several states over the years. In 1972 when her father retired, she and her family settled in the Reedsport community.

Kathy returned to Coos Bay area where she worked for John Burlee CPA until she joined the staff at Conrad Forest Products where she worked for the last 13 years until her passing.

Among her personal interests she loved to go to garage sales, gardening and checking out the thrift stores for collectibles. She and her dog Penny liked to go for walks on the beach. Kathy liked to take photos for her friends and family, she liked to take her mother to the casino for lunch and slots. She was a great friend and was known for remembering birthdays and sending cards for the holidays.
