Katheryn Lynn Hoy, 54, of Reedsport died April 8, 2016, of natural causes. Private family viewing and cremation rites have been held. A celebration of life and balloon release will be held near her birth date on the beach.

Katheryn Lynn Hoy was born July 27, 1961, in Presque Isle, Maine to Clifford Y. and Shirley JoAnn (Brown) Hoy. She grew up with a father serving in the U.S. Air Force and they transferred to several states over the years. In 1972 when her father retired, she and her family settled in the Reedsport community.

Kathy attended the Pioneer School and graduated from the Reedsport High School in 1979. She then attended Southwestern Oregon Community College for a short time before moving to Salem to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and then the city of Salem. Kathy returned to Coos Bay area where she worked for John Burlee CPA until she joined the staff at Conrad Forest Products where she worked for the last 13 years until her passing.

Among her personal interests she loved to go to garage sales, gardening and checking out the thrift stores for collectibles. She and her dog Penny liked to go for walks on the beach. Kathy liked to take photos for her friends and family, she liked to take her mother to the casino for lunch and slots. She was a great friend and was known for remembering birthdays and sending cards for the holidays.

Katheryn is survived by her mother, JoAnn Hoy; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Roselia Hoy and nephew, John Hoy of Bandon; uncle, Curtis Brown; aunt, Tricia Brown; auntie, Dee Lees; friend, Lee Groth; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Hoy in 1990.

The family suggests remembrances may be contributions to the Pacific Cove Humane Society in her memory.
