Albina Theresa Goetz, 88, of Florence, and previously from Gardiner, died Sat. Oct. 26, 2013 of natural causes surrounded by her loving family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wed. Oct. 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at St. Johns Rectory in Reedsport with Father Roger Fernando as Celebrant.
Graveside Services will follow in the Reedsport Masonic Cemetery and a reception will be held at the parish hall after the services.
Albina Theresa Goetz was born April 28, 1925 in St. Peter, Kansas to Jacob and Katherine (Knoll) Dreiling. She was raised and educated in Kansas on the family farm. At sixteen she moved with her family to Denver, Co. She began working at the Levi Jean Company where she put the rivets on the jeans. Albina also worked at the Nabisco Company. She met the love of her life at a New Years’ Dance.
She was united in marriage to Albinus “Beanie” Goetz on October 28, 1946 in Denver, Co. at the Catholic Church. They celebrated fifty years of life together and raised three daughters before he preceded her in death in 1996.
They moved to the Reedsport area in 1955 and settled into a home in Gardiner. Albina worked at the Fox Hole as a waitress and she would work at several other cafes over the years including Poseys’ Bakery in Reedsport. She was a very hard working woman and a busy wife and homemaker.
Among her personal interests she loved sewing, quilting and was a member of the Gardiner Sewing Club, as well as a member of the “Ladies Lunch Bunch”. She liked cooking, canning and gardening each year. The boys took homemade dill pickles on all the hunting trips. She was known for her great apple pies and working crossword puzzles. Albina played the piano, organ and loved to dance. You could always find her out on a walk about the town. She got her drivers’ license late in life but loved to drive her green Pontiac Lemans, even got herself a speeding ticket on the way home from Church.
In 2005 Albina settled in to her new home at the Spruce Point Assisted Living in Florence. She made many new friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a life-long member of the Catholic Church, previously active in the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters; Helen, Bridgette, and Baby Viola, and her brother, Dan.
Survivors include her three daughters and sons in law; Charlene and David Duble, North Bend, Linda and Gary Day, Olympia, Wa., Myra and Roger Paul, Keizer, Or., four sisters; Frances Brown, Ella Gabel, Leona Gabel, and Viola Younger. Ten grandchildren; David and Ryan Duble, Lindsay Holman, Ian and Aaron Roberts, Erica, Brent, and Adam Paul, Rachel Fantroy, Joshua Paul. Ten great grandchildren; Ciana and Brooklynn Duble, Logan and Hudson Duble, and Wyatt Holman, Darrian and Isabella Fantroy, Emily, Carter, and Dylan Paul.
The Family suggests that remembrances may be contributions made to the St. Johns’ Rectory, Reedsport, Or. 97467 in her memory.
