Obituary

Jeannie Kinsey, 92, a resident of Reedsport and previously of Aberdeen, Wa,  died Thursday, March 21, 2013 of causes related to age.

Jeannie Kinsey was born Nov. 23, 1920, the only child of  J.B. and Arlyn (White) Hardy. She was raised and educated in the Seattle area. During WWII she went to work at the Kaiser Shipyards with a group of women known as the “Rivetting Rosies”. They worked in the shipyard in Richmonds’ Marina Bay from 1941 until 1945 when the war ended. Jeannie was very proud of her contribution to the war effort on the home front.

Jeannie was married to Rex B. Kinsey on January 20, 1955 in Centrailia, Washington while she was working there. They raised four boys.

Over the years she worked several places doing food service until she went to work at Swanson Foods. She worked there until she was seventy-six years old.

Among her personal interests she loved all kinds of craft work. She crocheted many hats, blankets and scarves, she did leather tooling, pottery and ceramics, reading and her favorite pastime was doing the crossword puzzles in the paper everyday.

Jeannie had a love of cats, She collected them to decorate her home as well as feeding the strays who would drop by for a free meal.

In March of 2012 she moved to the Reedsport, Oregon community to be near her son, Frank Kinsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons; James and Charles Hatcher.
