Bruce Edwin Harris, affectionately known as “Duck,” passed away surrounded by love on November 15, 2024. Born June 1, 1949, to Mamie and William Harris, Bruce was the youngest of three siblings: Bill, Burton, and Betty. His childhood was filled with adventures along the coastal lakes and rivers where he spent countless days fishing.  It was across Oregon’s landscapes where he honed his love for hunting.

A graduate of Reedsport High School’s Class of 1967, Bruce’s life changed forever in junior high when he met the love of his life, Lynnae, on the docks of Winchester Bay while cleaning fish from returning charter boats. Though she lived in Eugene during the school year, Bruce’s determination and love knew no bounds— when fishing season ended, he hitchhiked from the coast to the valley to see her. Their deep bond led to marriage in 1971, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family and the outdoors.

Bruce and Lynnae were blessed with two sons, Ben, born in 1975, and Byron, born in 1977. Bruce adored his grandchildren—Ryder, Raquelle, Bella, Easton, and Harper—and continued his legacy by teaching them to explore, learn, and embrace new adventures. The lessons and memories he shared with them will leave an indelible mark on their lives.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Bruce had a gift for bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He was a devoted provider for his family, a loyal friend, and a passionate outdoorsman. His life revolved around his family, his friends, and the hunting and fishing community he cherished so deeply.

Bruce’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 30th, at 2:00 p.m. at Reedsport Church of God. His family invites all who knew Bruce to join in honoring his remarkable life.
