It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Don McCarren. Don was born on May 5, 1934, and peacefully passed away on May 26, 2026.

Don enjoyed living life to the fullest. He often made up his own rules and enjoyed testing boundaries. He enjoyed humor and was good-hearted. He loved it when others, including strangers, would say, “Did you know you look exactly like the old man in the movie Up?” Sometimes he would even reply, “Well, it should—they used my face.”

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, joking , teasing, gathering for happy hours, trying his luck at the casino.

His favorite part of the week was Saturday and Sunday where he spent hours watching Molly B Polka, cowboy church, gospel singers and RFD TV.

Don appreciated the simple pleasures of life. His blue eyes, large smile, spunky nature, and ability to make others feel welcome when they visited will be remembered by all who knew him.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived and the many memories he leaves behind. Don’s friendship, wisdom, and fun spirit touched countless lives and will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest peacefully, Don. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

In the coming months, a formal memorial service will be held to honor our little Don — Dad, veteran, friend, and a man deeply loved by so many. We will share details well in advance so that all who wish to attend will have time to make arrangements.

Until then, we invite family and friends to join us for an informal open house as we spend a little time together saying goodbye to Don and celebrating the memories we shared with him.

Our only request is that the “roast stories” be lovingly saved for a future happy hour gathering down the road.
