Edward Stuart Tillis, 89, passed away on October 15, 2017 at Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence.

Edward was born on August 5, 1928, in Wheaton Illinois to J.L. and Grace (Lake) Tillis. Edward attended school in Wheaton, Wheaton College, Western Montana College in Dillon Montana and San Jose State College. Edward met and eventually married Dolores A. Davis, they were married August 12, 1950 in Dillon Montana. The couple eventually settled in Reedsport where Edward taught school  for a number of years for the Reedsport  School District.

Edward enjoyed; reading and volunteering within the community.  He held memberships and participated in the following; Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, Patriarchs Militant Oregon, Encampment, AARP food pantry, Lower Umpqua Senior Center, United Presbyterian Church and the Covenant United Methodist Church. He also served and was discharged honorably from the Illinois and Montana National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, and grandson Peter Schaaf.

He is survived by: daughter Geane Rickels (Lynn), son Joseph Tillis (Leanna), grandchildren; Andrew, Victoria, and Rebekah Schaaf and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for December 2, 2017 at 11: am at the United Presbyterian Church located at 2360 Longwood Drive, Reedsport.  Private family inurnment will follow at Reedsport Masonic Cemetery.
