Obituary

Evelyn Thornquist passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in Reedsport, Ore. Born Evelyn Mae Buckmaster on Oct. 12, 1925, in Iola, Kan., to Joseph Buckmaster and Gertrude Looney, she moved to California as a young girl with her father, sister and relatives. She married Alton Thornquist and they had two children, Lenora and Ron.

Evelyn moved from Fort Bragg to Grass Valley and then on to Reno, Nev., where she lived with her son, Ron, until moving to Reedsport, Ore., with her daughter, Lenora, in 2008. Evelyn loved to sing country music and she also made peanut brittle and divinity candy for friends and family. Most of all, she loved playing the slots.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Joseph; mother, Gertrude; husband, Alton; and grandsons, Ronnie Del Re and Josh Thornquist.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lenora; son-in-law, Bob; and grandson, Bobby Del Re; as well as loving friend, Primetta Del Re, all of Reedsport, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law, Elva and Willie Alfaro of Fort Bragg; son, Ron Thornquist; and grandson, Tommy Thornquist of Reno; great-granddaughters, Maddie and Starlyn Thornquist; niece, Theresa Manzinali; great-nephew, Tony Peard, his wife, Evan, and their daughter, Abigail of Grass Valley; nephew, Ken Alfaro and his family, Nancy, Amy and Kennedy, all of Delta, Colo.; nephew, Don Alfaro of Lakeport, Calif., and his family, Erica Alfaro and Amiah Lopez of Fort Bragg; cousins, Lenora Ceriani, Patti Cervelli Schumacher and Kathy Cervelli Orsi, Fort Bragg, and Sandy Cervelli Carbone of Florida; as well as her grandson of the heart, Gino O'Callaghan, and his family. She leaves behind many more cousins and friends, too many to mention by name.

All of Evelyn's friends were family and all her family friends. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all. Everyone who knew her called her mom, auntie or grandma.
