Karin Renate Hawk

Karin Hawk, a woman whose heart was as vibrant and welcoming as the gardens she so lovingly tended, passed away leaving behind a legacy of deep affection, joy, and cherished memories. Known for her boundless kindness and devotion to those around her, Karin brought light, warmth, and steady comfort to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Grounded in the sunlit landscapes of California, where she spent most of her life, Karin’s greatest chapter began when she married the love of her life, Fred Hawk. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage, building a foundation anchored in deep partnership and shared adventure until Fred’s passing in 2023. Among their fondest memories were their annual summer RV trips to Oregon, a place whose natural beauty captured both of their hearts. Following Fred's passing, Karin made Oregon her home, embracing the peaceful landscapes they had fallen in love with together over decades of travel.

For many years, Karin brought creativity and care to her work as a hair stylist, building lasting connections with those in her chair. Her lifelong devotion to animals eventually led her to an exciting new venture when she had the opportunity to purchase a pet grooming business. Combining her artistic eye with her gentle, compassionate nature, she poured her heart into the salon. Her clients and their four-legged companions loved her dearly, and she quickly became known for treating every animal in her care as if it were her own.

An outdoor enthusiast to her core, Karin found true serenity in nature. Whether she was hiking along quiet trails, paddling across peaceful waters in her kayak, or tending to her garden full of blooming flowers and thriving plants, she was always in her element. Her home was a haven for all creatures. Her beloved dog, Heidi, was her constant companion, and her hummingbird feeders were meticulously kept full year-round, drawing a steady chorus of tiny wings to her yard.

At the center of Karin’s world was her family. She cherished her children deeply, maintaining a rare, beautiful bond where she was not only their mother, but also their best friend. She possessed an unmatched gift for bringing people together—whenever family plans were set in motion, Karen was the gentle force who fine-tuned every detail to ensure every gathering was seamless and special. A phenomenal cook, her home was always filled with inviting scents, most notably her wonderful homemade spaghetti, which served as the backdrop for countless memorable family meals.

Karin’s loving spirit, generous heart, and deep appreciation for life’s simple beauty live on through her children, her family, her dear friends, and the countless lives—both human and furry—she touched along the way.

Karin is preceded in passing by her parents, Michael and Ingeborg Bierlein; her beloved husband, Fred Hawk; and her fur-baby, Heidi. She is survived by her brother in Germany; her son, Gerry Bierlein and his wife, Julile; son, John Hawk; and her grandchildren, Michael and CJ Bierlein.
