Richard Douglas “Dick” Sweider, 72, Lakeside, died Wed. Nov. 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with Asbestosis. Private cremation rites have been held.

Richard Douglas Sweider was born July 18, 1941 in Portland, Or to William and Frances (Crawford) Sweider. He was raised and attended school in Cottage Grove. Dick joined the US Navy and served from 1958 to 1962.

Dick was united in marriage to Susie Moade on June 29, 1984 in Lakeside, Or.  where they have made their home for the last twenty-nine years.

Over the years Dick worked as a log truck driver and loved the outdoors. Among his personal interests he enjoyed fishing in the northwest and in Alaska with his brother in law, Boyd. He liked to go camping in the Elliot National Forest. His favorite pastime was to sit on the porch at the house drinking  coffee, visiting with his friends and neighbors.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Colleen McCrory and his Uncle Norman.

Survivors include the love of his life, wife, Susie, three daughters; Kellie Griffith, Trena Vick, and Lisa Biesanz, son, Richard Douglas Sweider, Jr., a sister & brother in law; Bonnie & Tom Woolley, sister in law, Mable Cody, niece, Lorrie Normann , nephew, Mike Woolley, & cousin, Diane Tremblay.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions made to the Pacific Home Health Hospice,
