Reedsport — Robert Lee Gravitt, 76, born in Ranger, Texas, passed away November 8, 2025. His death was the result of suicide, and his family shares this with the hope of encouraging greater awareness and support for mental health. Mr. Gravitt served in the Vietnam War as a U.S.Marine and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. He will be remembered for his love of classic cars and the life he lived on his own terms.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gravitt; five children from his previous marriage to Cecilie Gravitt: Tina Starnes, Bruce Gravitt (Charmaine), Matt Gravitt, Jason Gravitt (Holly), and Nikki Gravitt-Cotton (Matt); his sister Lulu MacPherson (Jerry); sister-in-law Alice/Diane Gravitt; grandchildren: Jazz Boyle-Smith, Sarah Boyle- Dirkson (Crystal), Gillian Revier, Haylee Sandine, Tyler Olson, Mason Olson, Wade Gravitt, and Charlotte Gravitt; great-granddaughter, Evelynn Smith; and niece and nephews: Amy, Michael, and Freeman “Red.” He was preceded in death by his daughter Tamara Gravitt; his parents, Freeman and Eunice; and his brother Freeman “Nubbin,” sister Judy, and brother Gary.
In lieu of a service, the family requests that donations be made to Stop Soldier Suicide, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide among veterans. Contributions can be made at stopsoldiersuicide.org.
