William Knox StoryAugust 22, 1956 – September 22, 2026

William Knox Story, known to all as Knox, passed away peacefully at his home in Reedsport, Oregon, on September 22, 2026, with his family by his side. He was 70 years old. Born August 22, 1956, in North Bend, Oregon, he was the son of Duard Neil and Julia Caroline Story.

In 1986, Knox married the love of his life, Virginia Lynn Barr. Together, they raised three children and shared 40 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Knox had a larger-than-life personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He seemed to know everyone, never met a stranger, and would do anything for anyone. His quick wit and generous heart touched countless lives, and he had a gift for making people laugh and feel welcome.

His faith was central to his life. He attended the Church of God and devoted his time and energy to helping with the Christmas in July project. His willingness to serve extended throughout the community, where he was a longtime volunteer firefighter and served as manager of the Lower Umpqua Parks and Recreation District.

Throughout his working life, Knox was a timber faller, a crabber, and the owner of a commercial salmon fishing boat. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and kayaking. Riding his motorcycle was another favorite pastime, and he and Virginia shared memorable cross-country rides together.

Knox leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Virginia Lynn Story; his children, Heather Blondell and her husband, Kevin, Loss Story and his wife, Julie, and Samantha Story and her husband, Dylan Soznoski; and his three cherished grandchildren, Evyn Rose, Sadie Lynn, and Lex Neil Clifton. He is also survived by his sisters, Lynn and Dianne, both of Eugene, Oregon, and his brother, Greg, of Missouri, along with countless relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and friendship.

Knox will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his steadfast faith, his devotion to family, and the laughter and generosity he shared so freely.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on November 7, 2026, at Pacific Auditorium.
