Cheryl Lee Whitley

February 15, 1947 ~ April 26, 2020 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Obituary

Cheryl Lee Whitley of Elkton, Oregon, was born on February 15, 1947, to Geneiva and Jesse Vaughn of Metropolis, Illinois. Around ten years later Geneiva married Gene Peck, who became Cheryl’s beloved stepfather. Cheryl lived for a time in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she developed a life-long enchantment with the plateaus and beauty of the high desert before moving to southern California.

Cheryl married her husband, Bill, almost 53 years ago. They raised two sons, Shannon and Shane. Cheryl found great satisfaction in the presence of God in her natural surroundings, never taking for granted the peace gifted by the trees, flowers, sunshine, and wild animals. She had a great affection for travel, music, and adventure.

Cheryl was the most loving and loyal of wives, mothers, and grandmothers, and never missed a sporting event or school function of her sons or granddaughters. She was always the loving face and cheerleader in the stands.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Bill (William), sons Shannon (Cybelle) of Alameda, CA, Shane (Melissa) of Elkton, OR, and grandchildren Cayla, Hannah, Lea Leach (Gordon), Noah, Grace and great grandchildren Josiah and Jessa. She also has two surviving siblings, Tom Peck and Charlene Osborne of southern California.

Cheryl will forever be missed and has loved and been loved beyond measure. Her family would like to thank Bristol Hospice of Springfield, OR, for their support during this time.
