Delmer Lindsey Butler Sr.

Jan. 12, 1932 - June 19, 2015

Delmer "The Stud" Lindsey Butler Sr., 83, passed away June 19, 2015, in Springfield from pneumonia. He was born Jan. 12, 1932, to Alton Butler and Ella (Brown) Simmons in Toledo. He was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz.

A wake was held from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Thursday, June 25, at Dunes Memorial Chapel, 2822 Frontage Road in Reedsport. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the chapel with burial at Reedsport Masonic Cemetery.

He attended school in Siletz and at Chemawa Indian Boarding School in Salem.

Delmer met the love of his life, Priscalla Lockwood in 1950. They were married Dec. 9, 1955, in Stevenson, Wash. He moved his family in 1958 to Reedsport, where he would become a well known, respected logger, retiring in 1995. Delmer was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. 

He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Words cannot express how much he is missed.

Delmer is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Priscilla ; sons, Delmer Butler Jr. of Siletz, Brent Butler of Eugene, Dent (Todd) Butler of Lincoln City, and Kent Butler and Barry Butler of Reedsport; daughter, Ella Fisher of Reedsport; grandson, Brett Butler who he raised like his own son; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with two on the way; six brothers; five sisters; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
