Mollie Lowery Obituary

Mollie Sue Lowery, 86, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on August 2, 2021.  Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 14th at the Dunes Memorial Chapel from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.  Funeral Service to Follow, at 2:00pm, conducted by Travis Durgelow of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Reedsport Masonic Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Charles Glen Lowery.  A reception in her honor will be held at the Bedrocks Pizza in Reedsport, following the burial service.

Sue was born on August 18, 1934 to Harvey Lee and Vida Ellen (Hope) Harris in Prattsville, Arkansas.  Sue was raised in Sheridan, Arkansas.  Sue met the love of her life in Ashland, Oregon and 3 months later, on October 19, 1951, she married Charles Glen Lowery.  They moved back to Arkansas for a short period of time before returning to North Bend, Oregon, where Charles acquired a job working for the power company before eventually moving to Reedsport, where they called “Home”.  They raised 4 children, Gary Wayne born January 11, 1955; Ricky Glen born November 24, 1957; Cathy Sue born June 12, 1962 and Terry Allan born June 9, 1969.  Sue worked as a cook for Dairy Queen and as a cook for W.F. Jewett School for short periods of time.

Sue loved her family very much.  Sue was an amazing cook and she made meals that everyone remembered and requested until she was unable to work in a kitchen.  She was also an amazing seamstress, making clothing, bedding and much more for her sons and daughter, grandchildren and friends.  Sue devoted her life to being the best wife, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend to all.

She is survived by: Her sister Doris Faye Harris, brother Bill Harris, Daughter Cathy Jackson and family, Son Gary Lowery and family, Son Rick Lowery and family, Son Terry Lowery and family.  She is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Vida, father Harvey, husband Charles, brothers: James, Jewell, Clarence, Carthell and Charles (Doc), sisters: Lyndell and Vaughnita.

 

Pallbearers for the funeral will be: Gary Lowery, Rick Lowery, Terry Lowery, Greg Jackson, Brian Lowery, Caleb Lowery and Brad Phillips.  Honorary Pallbearer is Jason Jackson.
